Kiwanis 2003 Induction
2003-2004 officers and directors of the Richmond Kiwanis
Club were installed on October 8th at Cedar Village in Irvine,
KY. Those installed were first row (l. to r.) Dr. Kim Naugle,
Vice President; Mary Lou "Piddle" Johnson, President;
Dr. Glen Kleine, Immediate Past President and Lt. Governor;
Brenda Blankenship, Treasurer. Back row (l. to r.) Danny
Damrel, Secretary; and Board of Directors members Elbert
Hudson, Coleman Turpin, Dr. Morris Taylor, P. Jared Noble,
and Wayne Short. Also installed, but not in photograph
was board member John Tuel.
Mark Calitri was selected as the 2003 Kiwanian
of the Year. Shown here presenting the Kiwanian of the Year certificate
is new club president Mary Lou "Piddle" Johnson.
Subsequently Mark received his Kiwanian of the Year plaque at
a club meeting.
Mary Lou "Piddle" Johnson was inducted
as the new Richmond Club president by Dr. Ken Clawson,
Past Governor of the Kentucky-Tennessee District.
Dr. Ken Clawson also inducted Dr. Kim Naugle
as vice president of the Richmond Kiwanis Club
Dr. Ken Clawson, who was inducting the Richmond
officers called for Brenda Blankenship, the 11 year treasurer
of the club and Danny Damrel, the 11 year secretary of
the club to come forward to be inducted. Ken failed to recognize
that Danny, who had been photographing the event all evening,
was already on hand for his induction, causing a moment of amusement.
Glen Kleine was given a plaque by Mary Lou
"Piddle" Johnson in recognition of his year of service
as president of the Richmond Kiwanis club.
A variety of Legion of Honor certificates were presented
at the banquet. Those being recognized were:

Honor
Elbert Hudson - Kiwanian - 45 years - Legion
of Honor
Jack Taylor - Kiwanian - 45 years - Legion of
Honor
Ken Clawson - Kiwanian - 40 years - Legion of

Charles Shelby - Kiwanian - 30 years - Legion

Robert Nayle - Kiwanian - 25 years - Legion

Committee chair service awards were given to club members.
Here Mark Calitri is recognized for his service as chair
of the 33rd annual auction and chair of the 11th annual golf tournament.
Mark was also chair of the Carnival.
David Harkleroad is recognized for his service
as chair of the first annual roadblock and chair of the annual
pancake breakfast. Others recognized for their service were
Marilou "Piddle" Johnson, chairman of programs;
Glen Kleine, chairman of public relations; Charles Shelby,
Outstanding Membership Recruiter Award and Ray Desloover,
Outstanding Auctioneer Award.
Tammy Harkleroad (right), the wife of David
Harkleroad, was made an honorary Kiwanian for her many contributions
to the Richmond Kiwanis Club. Presenting the award is Mary
Lou "Piddle" Johnson, Richmond club president.
As part of the emphasis on developing membership in
Kiwanis, Dana Sheets (right) was inducted into membership by new
Richmond club president Mary Lou "Piddle" Johnson.
Dr. Glen Kleine, the Lt. Governor of Division
9 of the K-T District, is recognized for his service as immediate
past-president of the Richmond Club and for inducting the Irvine-Ravenna
Kiwanis Club officers and directors.
Dan McBride, a past-president of the Richmond
Kiwanis Club, served as MC of the banquet

Kiwanis Club were also installed on October 8th at Cedar Village

Eugene Bush, Treasurer. Back row (l. to r.) Tom Bonny,
Immediate Past President; and Board of Directors. Board members
installed were Sherry L. Fox, Paul E. (Sonny) Muncie, Berma
L. Newton, Lloyd C. Roberts, Richard R. Snowden, Charlie E.Vanhuss,
and Rebecca A. (Becky) Werner Also installed, but not in photograph
were: Stephen E. (Steve) Garrett, 1st VP / President Elect;
Guy Hatfield, 2nd Vice President; and Bobby L. Rose,
Secretary.
