"Competing in the Boston Marathon"
A representative from the Richmond Area Theater descripted
their"Music Man" production which would be held in the
theater barn at the Battlefield Park. The Kiwanis Club became
a $100 sponsor of the local Richmond Area Theater group.
Brittany Benge Receives
$500 Kiwanis Scholarship
Brittany Benge, daughter of Mr. And Mrs. David Benge
of 210 LaRose Drive, Richmond, is the recipient of a $500 scholarship
from the Kentucky
Tennessee District Kiwanis Foundation.
Benge, a sophomore Chemistry major with an emphasis in pre-pharmacy
at the University of Louisville, has been in the honors program
and the honors volunteer program for the past two years.
While at U of L, she has served as the treasurer of the Resident
Student Association. She is currently a members of the national
Society of Collegiate Scholars and on the Women's Rowing Team.
While Model High School she provided service to Special Olympics,
Habitat of Humanity, Pattie A. Clay Hospital, and served as a
nursery school teacher's aide. She graduated with honors and received
a Commonwealth Diploma from Model High School and was the recipient
of the Academic All-State Award for three years.
Benge was one of 19 recipients of the 2004-2005 Kiwanis Foundation
Scholarship Recipients in the Kentucky and Tennessee. This foundation
is available to children and grandchildren of Kiwanis club members
in the two state area. David Benge, Brittany's father,
has been a long-time member of the Kiwanis Club of Richmond. He
currently serves as the Senior Vice President and Madison County
CEO of the Cumberland Valley National Bank.
