Kiwanis and Circle K Assists Reading is Fundamental at 2005 Summer Book Distribution

A young customer shows off the book she selected at the 2005 Reading is Fundamental Fair. This year the Richmond Area Arts Council was a co-sponsor of the RIF Fair.

Selecting a book was serious business

Kiwanians and prospective Circle K members at Eastern Kentucky University teamed up to prepare their distribution of free crayons and notebooks to all of the RIF participants

An EKU professor prepared balloon sculpture for the participants

Brenda Blankenship, treasurer of the Richmond Kiwanis Club, helps RIF participants select beads and color shapes for their necklaces.

Participants proudly displayed their necklace handiwork

Melissa Coffey, an EKU senior and prospective Circle K member, helps a young man put together a necklace.

Another activity at the RIF event was face painting. Here a young man checks the progress of his design in a mirror.

Sarah Webb, an EKU Freshman who was active in the Model School Key Club and plans to be active in the EKU Circle K, assists a participant complete her necklace.
