The Kiwanis Club of Richmond is conducting a cell phone recycling fundraiser. There's nothing to buy. We are simply asking you to help protect the environment by donating your used cell phone(s). Your donation will be used to help the community by providing much needed funds for our organization and emergency communications to senior citizens and victims of abuse through the 911 Cell Phone Bank program.
Kiwanians who have unused cell phones are encouraged to bring them to the August 28th meeting to give them to Sheriff Nelson O'Donnell who will provide more information about the cell phone project at that meeting.
The Madison County Sheriff's Office and the 911 Cell Phone Bank are partnering to help seniors and crime victims by collecting and distributing cell phones. Under the partnership free emergency 911 cell phones will be provided to those in need.

The National Sheriffs' Association also participates in this project which provides criminal justice practitioners useful resources, technical assistance, and congressional advocacy.
Over 400 law enforcement and victim services agencies across the country actively collect cell phones to benefit their emergency cell phone programs. Check out the calendar below for the cell phone collection events in your area.
The 911 Cell Phone Bank provides emergency cell phones at no charge to law enforcement and victim services agencies. As you can imagine the need for emergency communications is increasing. Currently, over 2,000 cell phones a month are being distributed nationwide by the 911 Cell Phone Bank and its partners. Your donation will help them keep up with the increasing demand.
We will take a group photo of all Kiwanians holding the cell phone that they are giving to the sheriff. We want every Kiwanian in the club to donate a cell phone to this project. If you have several old cell phones - bring them to the meeting - we can give one of those to a member who does not have one to give. That way every Richmond Kiwanian in attendance will have a phone to give.
