Madison County Courthouse Ornament Now Available
The Kiwanis Club of Richmond is making available a Madison County Courthouse Christmas Ornament
to support youth service projects in Richmond, KY.

Individuals or companies who wish to donate $20 for this limited edition ornament may do so on line at:

Robert Blythe Receives Maffett Award

The Kiwanis Club of Richmond is proud to report that Robert Blythe, a Richmond Kiwanian and member of the Kiwanis Club of Richmond Board of Directors, was recently the recipient of the 2019 Richmond Chamber of Commerce Wallace G. Maffett award.

The award was named for a former Richmond Mayor Wallace G. Maffett and is given to long-serving officials or other community members who best exemplify Maffett's devotion of time, experience and efforts in service to the community.

Blythe was born and raised in Richmond. He earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from in Eastern Kentucky University. In 1981, he was appointed pastor of the First Baptist Church on Francis Street and attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary to gain his Masters Degree in Divinity and later attended the Covington Theological School for his Doctoral Degree in Divinity.

Blythe has also served as an educator at Madison High School, Madison Southern High School and EKU.

In 2002, Blythe won his first seat on the Richmond city commission, a position he has held for 16 years. In 2018, he was elected the city's first African-American mayor.

Hundreds were given a free breakfast by Richmond Kiwanians on Saturday, November 2. More than $600 was donated to the Madison Central HS Band to help support their trip to participate in the 2019 Macy's Parade and in excess of $200 was donated to Madison County Key clubs for their service at the breaskfast.
