Circle K Completes Project for Madison County Public Library

Seven members of the newly formed EKU Circle K Club provided service to the Madison County Public Library by boxing and delivering 447 hardback books, 268 softback books, and 168 records and videos donated by Mr. and Mrs. Donald Smith. Donald Smith is a retired registrar and his wife Kay Smith is a retired English professor from EKU.

Students participating in this project were: (l. to r.) Lee Kuiper, freshman criminal justice major; Guy Frye, EKU Circle K Club President and junior education major; Danielle Snider, freshman social work major; Emily Halsey, freshman early childhood education major; Sarah Freese,, EKU Circle K Club Secretary-Treasurer and forensic science / biology major; Steven Sheldon, freshman graphics design major; and Jacquie Shaver, freshman forensic science / biology major.

Circle K is an international organization sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Richmond and the Kiwanis Club of Irvine-Ravenna. Dr. Kim Naugle, Chair of the Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology at EKU and immediate past president of the Kiwanis Club of Richmond, serves as the campus adviser of the club. Dr. Glen Kleine, retired EKU professor and dean, and administrator of the Kentucky-Tennessee District of Circle K, serves as the club Kiwanis adviser.

Circle K has a current membership is 12,288 college students on 507 campuses in 15 nations in North and South America, the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, and West Africa. The EKU Circle K Club meets weekly on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in Conference Room A of the Powell Building.
